Most importantly, you need to create a routine for yourself. Set aside a particular time in the day when you will study. If you want to be more specific, you can decide what you would like to study when. For example, History at 10 am, Math at 11 am, and Biology at 12 noon. Something likes that – you get the idea? Once you’ve made this routine for your revision, stick to it. Remember to create a place for yourself to study in, some quiet spot devoid of distractions and interruptions. Make sure there’s no television nearby, or even an open window looking outside. You’ll need good lighting and ventilation, as well as a comfortable chair, and a large table or desk. Sit down with all your required study material, to ensure you don’t have to constantly get up.

Take regular mock-tests to see how ahead you’ve got with the studying. If you feel you’re getting stuck somewhere, consult a teacher for help. They will always assist you. Also, if you’re studying online, i.e. – looking up essays on the Internet, make sure you don’t chat or sign on to social networking sites!

Do remember to take breaks at regular intervals. This will ensure that you don’t get overwhelmed by the process of studying, and also, you need breaks to keep you going. If you study for hours on end, chances are you’ll have tuned out within a couple of hours. Ideally, you could take a break of ten minutes every half an hour. Do keep yourself replenished with adequate fluid intake. Eat healthy; don’t go overboard with sugary foods. Also, don’t overstress yourself – sure, exams are worrying, but you need to sleep well, get some good exercise, and you’ll be okay!

Give yourself an occasional pat on the back. Rewards are important. If you’ve finished studying a particularly difficult chapter, clap for yourself, or buy yourself a small candy bar. This may sound excessively childish, but they’re proven methods that are effective! Take time off once in a while; go out with friends, and just chill out.
