Even though it was conceived originally as a way for adults to earn a college degree or GED in life later than usual, now  “distance learning” or online education is spreading to the point that people of all ages are now getting involved. Children who are young enough like the fourth grade level can access online education program in several areas, and use it in place of traditional classes or as a supplement to it.

This is making sense to the business community and translating into dollars. As said in the November 2004 report on CNN’s website, it was predicted in 2001 that online education will be coming $23 billion industry at the end of 2004.

This can be extremely helpful for those individuals who aren’t situated near a college town or a major university, but who still want a good solid educational foundation.

Even if you are attending one nearby, the cost of the college classes can be exorbant. This makes the low maintenance cost of the college classes online seem much more reasonable. This is a huge benefit in tough economic times when money is a big factor, but people still recognize the importance of a college education.

5. Work at Your Own Pace: A traditional college experience has a sort of “one size fits all” approach and that doesn’t work well for everyone. For the student who learns faster or alternatively needs to work at a slower pace, an online college education can accommodate all of that. This may help to keep students focused, on pace, and ultimately make them more successful in their college career.
